1952 Cushman Eagle Land Speed Motorcycle
This bike has been in my family for three generations. My original intent was a full restoration until a trip to the Bonneville Salt Flats altered its course.
After an unsuccessful run in 2011 I re-designed the frame yet again to marry the 315 cc Flathead engine to a 4-speed transmission from a 1949 Indian Vertical Twin ditching the original Cushman 2-speed.
The engine modifications include porting and polishing, a slight cam, oversized valves, increased compression via headwork and most importantly, balancing.
The trailing link front end is original to the Cushman though highly modified. The frame and all the metal bits finished off in nickel plating.
My father passed away while I was building this bike and as a tribute to him, I have his ashes welded into the frame.
After a successful dyno run of 93 mph (doubling the original top speed of the Cushman), I am hopeful of my goal of a land speed record this coming August.
